AIndividual adopted as a special foster child of a Japanese national or an individual born as a child of a Japanese national

 

After arriving in Japan, newly arrived "mid- to long-term residents" are required to report their place of residence at the municipal office of the city, ward, or town where they wish to reside. To complete the registration, they need to provide either their "residence card" or a passport with a notation indicating that a residence card will be issued at a later date.

 

If there is a change in the place of residence for "mid- to long-term residents," they need to bring their residence card and submit a Notification of Address Change at the municipal office, indicating their new address.

 

If there are errors or changes in the information recorded on the residence card of a "mid- to long-term resident," they need to submit a notification of the changes to the Regional Immigration Bureau that has jurisdiction over their place of residence.

 

If a "mid- to long-term resident" with a residence status such as "Dependent" , "Spouse or Child of a Japanese national" , or "Spouse or Child of a permanent resident" divorces or is widowed, they need to submit a notification of the change to the Regional Immigration Bureau.

Here are the necessary documents for the status of "Spouse or Child of a Japanese national"

(1)Application for certificate of eligibility
(2)A photo (4cm x 3cm in vertical orientation)
(3)A certified copy of the Japanese spouse's family register
 ※If there is a record of the marriage in the family register, a certified copy of the Japanese
spouse's family register that includes the mention of the marriage is sufficient. However, if there is no record of the marriage in the family register, in addition to the family register, a certificate of acceptance of the marriage registration.
(4)A marriage certificate issued by the government authority of your country of 
nationality is required.
(5)Certificate of Residence Tax (indicating the taxation status, whether taxable or non-
taxable, of the Japanese spouse's resident tax) and Income Tax Payment Certificate
(indicating the total income and tax payment status for the previous year).
(6)Letter of Guarantee by the Japanese spouse.
(7)A copy of the resident certificate with the information of all members in the household who are Japanese spouses.
(8)The prescribed questionnaire of the Immigration Services Agency of Japan
(9)photograph (clearly showing the appearance of both spouses)
(10)A self-addressed envelope with a postage stamp attached (for registered mail).

(1)Application for certificate of eligibility
(2)A photo (4cm x 3cm in vertical orientation)
(3)A copy of the applicant's parent's family register or a copy of the parent's removal 
from the family register.
(4)If born in Japan, one of the following documents is required
  1)Certificate of Acceptance of Birth Registration
  2)Certificate of Acceptance of Acknowledgment of Paternity
(5)If born outside of Japan, one of the following documents is required:
  1)A birth certificate issued by the government of the country of birth.
  2)A certificate issued by the government of the country of birth, confirming that the
applicant has been recognized by the father.
(6)In the case of being a special adoptee, one of the following documents is required.
  1)Certificate of Acceptance of Special Adoption Registration
  2)Certified copy of the judgment document related to adoption issued by the
Japanese family court and a certificate of finality.
(7)Certificate of taxation (taxable or non-taxable) for residence tax of the individual(s) supporting (paying for living expenses) the applicant in Japan (if multiple individuals are supporting, the certificate should be provided by the person with higher income), and a tax payment certificate indicating the total income and tax payment status for the past year.
(8)Letter of Guarantee for the applicant's identity.
(9)A self-addressed envelope with a postage stamp attached (for registered mail).

AA person who was born in Japan as the child of a permanent resident or special permanent resident and continues to reside in Japan.

(4)Marriage certificate issued by the government of the spouse and applicant's country of nationality (foreign country).
(5)Certificate of taxation (taxable or non-taxable) for residence tax for the most recent past year of the person who will be paying the applicant's living expenses, and a tax payment certificate indicating the total income and tax payment status for the past year.
(6)A copy of the resident certificate that includes the information of all members of the household, including the applicant.
(7)The prescribed questionnaire of the Immigration Services Agency of Japan
(8)photograph (clearly showing the appearance of both spouses)
(9)Letter of Guarantee by the Japanese spouse.
