Types of "Specified Skilled Worker"

The "Specified Skilled Worker" residence status has two categories: "Type 1" and "Type 2".

@"Specified Skilled Worker Type 1"

ESkills that require a considerable level of knowledge or experience are required.

This refers to skills that require a significant period of practical experience, and it is understood to denote the ability to perform certain tasks at a certain level without requiring special nurturing or training.
¨The proficiency level of such skills is determined through examinations or assessments
that correspond to the job categories specified in the field-specific operational
guidelines.

EIn the case of "Specified Skilled Worker Type 1" visa holders, it is required to have a basic level of Japanese language proficiency that allows for everyday conversation and does not hinder daily life. Additionally, specific levels of Japanese language proficiency necessary for job-related tasks are required in each specified industry field. The required Japanese language proficiency levels are confirmed through examinations or assessments established by the administrative agencies responsible for each industry field.

@"Specified Skilled Worker Type 2"

EThis refers to highly skilled expertise acquired through years of practical experience or other means. It requires a level of expertise and skills equivalent to or higher than those of foreign nationals holding current specialized or technical residence statuses in their respective fields. For example, it includes the ability to independently perform highly specialized and technical tasks or to oversee and manage operations as a supervisor while demonstrating skilled proficiency in the assigned tasks.
¨The skill level is determined through examinations or other means that correspond to the job categories within the specific designated industrial field, as defined in the sector-specific operational guidelines.
