What is the "Intra-Company Transferee" residence status?

The "Intra-Company Transferee" residence status is established to accommodate the entry of specialized technical professionals who are transferred from a "related company overseas" to a "Japanese entity" or from an "overseas headquarters" to a "Japanese branch office," among other cases of personnel relocation. This residence status allows for the transfer of employees from a "foreign office" to a "Japanese office" based on job reassignments within the same company.
@ In addition, "intra-group company transfers" are also included in the scope of intra-company transfers. The activities involved in intra-company transferee are similar to those of "engineers" and encompass tasks that require technical expertise or knowledge in the fields of natural sciences such as physical or engineering sciences, as well as legal, economic, social sciences, or other humanities disciplines. It also includes activities that involve tasks requiring a foundation in foreign cultures, critical thinking, or sensitivity.

In the case of "intra-company Transferee," it is considered a transfer for a "fixed period of time," but it is possible to renew the period of stay.

Activities related to "business management or administration" cannot be performed under the "intra-company Transferee" residence status.
